1. The short version
221B Reboot does not use advertising or analytics cookies. It stores strictly necessary privacy and on-site display choices on your device. YouTube players are blocked until you actively allow optional media.
2. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files stored by a browser. Similar technologies, including local storage, can remember information on a device. Privacy rules apply to these technologies even where the information does not directly identify you.
3. Technologies used on this site
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
221b-reboot-consent-v1 | 221B Reboot | Remembers whether optional YouTube media may load | Up to 6 months |
221b-audio-promo-v1 | 221B Reboot | Remembers that the audiobook promotion was dismissed so it appears only once during the browsing session | Until the browser tab is closed |
| YouTube storage and cookies | Google / YouTube | Video delivery, security and playback preferences after consent | Set and controlled by Google after media is allowed |
The first item is local storage and the second is session storage rather than a traditional cookie. They are treated as strictly necessary because they record and respect your choices without tracking activity across websites.
4. How consent works
On your first visit, optional media is off. Choosing “Reject optional” leaves videos blocked. Choosing “Accept optional” allows privacy-enhanced YouTube players to load. “Manage choices” lets you select the media category directly.
You can change or withdraw consent at any time using the Privacy choices button fixed at the bottom of every page. Rejecting later blocks future player loads; clear Google/YouTube data through your browser if you also want to remove information already stored by that service.
5. External links
Amazon, Audible and other external sites are not loaded into this page. Their cookies and privacy practices apply only after you choose to follow an external link.
6. Browser controls
You can delete site storage or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary preference record means the site may ask for your choice again. The book information and purchase links remain available without optional media.
