Dr Chen Liang

A computational physicist and MI6 source whose murder triggers the investigation. Chen is killed in Hong Kong with an advanced neural-disruption weapon before he can deliver intelligence connected to Crown Industries.

The father

Lu Wei-Ping

Amara's father, a senior Chinese state-security and strategic-power figure. He murdered her mother, taught her that sentiment is weakness and made usefulness the price of survival. Amara eventually turns his philosophy against him and removes him from power.
